Good Oral Health
Maintaining good oral health is essential for overall health and well-being. Regular dental check-ups, proper oral hygiene, and a healthy lifestyle supports good oral health + works to prevent health problems in the mouth and throughout the body.
Preventative Treatment
Quality Dental Care practices and treatments are aimed at preventing dental issues such as cavities, gum disease, enamel wear, damage + more. We recommend regular dental check-ups, cleans, and oral health education. Key components of preventative dentistry include:
Regular Dental Visits: Seeing a dentist regularly for check-ups and cleanings helps to catch problems early and maintain oral health.
Proper Brushing and Flossing: Daily brushing with fluoride toothpaste and flossing are essential for removing plaque and preventing tooth decay and gum disease.
Healthy Diet: Eating a balanced diet that is low in sugar helps to prevent tooth decay. Avoiding sugary snacks and drinks can significantly reduce the risk of cavities.
Fluoride Use: Fluoride strengthens tooth enamel and makes it more resistant to decay. It can be found in toothpaste, mouth rinses, and some tap water.
Dental Sealants: These are thin, protective coatings applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth (molars) to prevent decay.
Mouthguards: Wearing a mouthguard during sports activities can help prevent injuries to the teeth and mouth.
Avoiding Tobacco: Tobacco use can lead to gum disease, tooth loss, and oral cancer. Quitting smoking or using tobacco products significantly benefits oral health.
Education: Learning about proper oral hygiene techniques and understanding the importance of maintaining oral health is crucial for prevention.
By focusing on these aspects, preventative dentistry helps to maintain oral health, and reduce the need for extensive dental treatments. We like to promote overall well-being.
QDC has an Initial Scale and Clean – Fluoride Treatment + Oral Hygiene Instruction
Our QDC qualified Hygienist will assess your gums to measure the bone levels around the teeth. We help to determine the best way for you to maintain the upkeep of your oral hygiene. A professional, thorough scale and clean is recommended every 6 months.
Subsequent Cleans:
Sometimes there is so much tartar on the teeth that it isn’t feasible or comfortable to remove it in one visit. If this is the case the Hygienist will arrange for another appointment with you to finish the job. It may be that you require 3-monthly cleans as it is difficult for you to reach on your own.
Fluoride Treatment:
The best time for a fluoride treatment is when you have just had a scale and clean. The fluoride is placed on the tooth by the Hygienist and acts to make the tooth stronger and more resistant to decay.
Oral Hygiene Instruction:
The Hygienist will look at your current cleaning patterns, identify areas (if any) that you are missing with your cleaning, and suggest ways you can improve. There is often no right or wrong way, just what works best for you.
