Inlays and onlays are applied to molars, or in some cases pre-molars, where the tooth has experienced significant to the extent is can no longer support a basic filling. The damage is quite advanced, so much so that a crown is necessary.

The key comparison between Inlay and Onlay, is the amount, or part of the tooth they cover. They are used to fill cavities and then cemented in place. Another alternative is a direct restoration, made out of composite, amalgam, or a glass ionomer.

Inlays + Onlays

Are still known to be made from gold, which is still used today! However, alternative materials such as porcelain have become increasingly popular due to being white in color (to match your teeth) + they most resemble the natural transparency of our teeth.

Porcelain provides beautiful aesthetic value. For this reason and purpose, it is the natural choice for a beautiful gleaming white smile.

As technology advances, Inlays + Onalys are now being made out of ceramic (porcelain) a state-of-the-art technology where inlay and onlay treatments can be designed and fitted on the same day, and in one appointment! Impressions are no longer required due to 3D scanning. The benefits are that you get to see your smile before trying it on!

Split Tooth

A split tooth occurs when a tooth cracks from its surface down to its root, often causing severe pain and requiring professional dental treatment.

Cracked Tooth

This is when something damages your tooth and causes a small break (crack or fracture) in it.

The ideal way to artificially restore both the strength and appearance of broken, weakened, split or cracked teeth is at Quality Dental Care, Brighton. Our aim is to have you fixed and smiling with confidence in no time! Crowns are also referred to as as ‘caps’. Crowns are custom made to fit over the remaining tooth – providing a strong seal that will protect it from further damage. To improve the appearance and functionality of the tooth, having a crown fitted means removing any decay from the affected tooth, and leaving a post in its place until the new crown is placed. The titanium post will act as an anchor for the crown. We give it three months to ensure that your body accepts it. Our crowns are custom-made in a dental laboratory by a skilled technician to an exact fit for your mouth and teeth shade. We offer both standard crowns and CEREC (same Day Crowns). Of course all this will be explained in your consultation.
