Teeth are subject to natural wear and tear, QDC has cosmetic and restorative dental treatments to fix your teeth so you can feel confident and happy to smile again. We can create computer-generated restorations so you can view your smile before we start.
QDC is an amalgam-free practice, this means that whatever restoration we use in your mouth will not contain materials like mercury or silver and will appear white.
Whether to fix broken teeth, close gaps, or align crooked teeth, Tooth Restoration is great for discolored teeth (when whitening doesn’t work). The final result closes gaps, and can even align crooked teeth. Individually custom-made veneers deploy advanced 3D imaging techniques for a natural-looking smile.
Split Tooth
A split tooth occurs when a tooth cracks from its surface down to its root, often causing severe pain and requiring professional dental treatment.
The treatment for a split tooth typically depends on the severity of the split. Common options include:
Dental Bonding: For minor cracks, resin can be used to fill the crack and restore the tooth’s appearance and function.
Root Canal Therapy: If the split extends into the pulp, root canal therapy may be necessary to remove infected tissue and save the tooth.
Crown: A dental crown can be placed over the tooth to protect it from further damage and restore its shape and function.
Porcelain (CEREC) Restorations
Our Dentist prepares the cavity and scans into the computer. This creates 3D Virtual images of your teeth. The computer displays how the tooth can look. With your approval, and following a few adjustments, our high-tech machinery cuts the proposed restoration from a porcelain block. Our qualified clinician then polishes and cements the restoration to the tooth (a strong conservative method that binds and hold the tooth together.
Restorations are typically advised for medium to large cavities. It is known to preserve more teeth than other restorative options. Extraction
When the split is ‘severe’ and the tooth cannot be saved, then extraction may be necessary. A dental implant or bridge can replace the tooth.
Dental Bonding
A procedure where a tooth-colored resin is applied and hardened with a special light to repair or improve the tooth’s appearance. White bonding is natural and can be color-matched to your natural teeth.
White Fillings
- Composite Resin is typically used for smaller cavities – a conservative long-term restoration solution.
- Glass Ionomer Cements (GICs) are weaker than composite resin with the added advantage of releasing fluoride onto the tooth.
Crowns
Crowns are used to strengthen teeth, and in some situations, to provide a very aesthetic appearance providing the most pleasing results for shape, color, and alignment.
Crowns or Caps are generally recommended to hold a tooth together when there isn’t much tooth left. Typically we shave about 1.5 mm of the tooth/filling surface on all sides. We then take an impression and send it to the lab, leaving you with a temporary crown in its place. The lab creates a Crown in metal, porcelain, or a combination of these materials that is cemented over the tooth very snugly.
